On June 24, the meeting aimed to instruct undergraduate students of 2021 to choose their major was held in Room F101 at East No.12 Teaching Building. Qiu Caiming, Dean of EIC, and Cheng Wenqing, Deputy Dean of EIC, attended the meeting.

Professor Ma Hong, Professor Wang Bang and Professor Qiu Caiming respectively introduced the three majors of EIC, namely Electromagnetic Field and Wireless Technology, Electronic Information Engineering and Communications Engineering, in terms of the basic situation of major construction, the research fields, the research teams, the research achievements and curriculum.

Professor Ma Hong mentioned that the number of Chinese universities that set up the program in Electromagnetic Field and Wireless Technology is limited, and the Electromagnetic Field and Wireless Technology of EIC is in the lead nationwide. Professor Wang Bang showed students how research results in the field of electronic information engineering are applied in daily life. Professor Qiu Caiming introduced the strength and the position of Communication Engineering of EIC in China as well as in the world.

The program of Electronic Information Engineering includes seven interdisciplinary research fields, such as artificial intelligence, robotics, big data and comprehensive health. The program of Communications Engineering, as a national quality specialty of distinctive features, incorporates the cutting-edge research fields like mobile communications, future communications, green communications and communication networks. Radio frequency and wireless technology and remote sensing and measuring and imaging technology are among the research fields of Electromagnetic Field and Wireless Technology, which can be applied to the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program.

This meeting has provided a good opportunity for students to gain more knowledge of the three majors of EIC. EIC always encourages students to choose their major in accordance with their interest and career planning so as to give full play to students’ advantages and implement individualized talent training.
